Day 184 of why shouldn’t every day be detrans awareness day?! Tonight, my post is dedicated to you, the parent. How well are you taking care of yourself? Often times, parents are completely consumed by this issue, sometimes for years. Parents often go down the gender rabbit hole right along with their child so they can understand why their child has been exposed to. I did for months. Self-care is not prioritized and can feel pointless when your child and family are falling apart. I have talked to parents who are even suicidal at times throughout this issue. This is when self-care is even more crucial. Your child needs you to be at your best. You need rest and exercise and you will be role modeling this behavior for your child as well. You can't effectively be the parent your child needs you to be if you are not caring for yourself, which is being calm, patient, thinking clearly and creatively for ways to connect and break through to your child. I know this isn't easy. You can even do self-care with your spouse or your child. Learn to cook healthy meals together, go on walks or hikes together, learn a new hobby or sport together and commit to spending less time on screens as a family. Don't underestimate how much self-care can improve your relationship with your child and others around you. Self-care will help you to keep going when you feel emotionally and physicality exhausted. There is hope and your child is worth it. #detransawarenessday
